What Tuchel did that ruined Chelsea’s chances of beating Zenit- Zenit boss reveals

Sergei Semak, the manager of Zenit St Petersburg, has blamed Chelsea’s defeat on Thomas Tuchel’s decision to make eight changes for the game against Zenit on Wednesday night.

Chelsea, according to Semak, were overly open, which is unusual for the Blues, due to Tuchel’s numerous changes to the starting XI.

“Chelsea played freely today,” Semak added.

“In the past five games, they’ve only allowed their opponents to score once, but we scored three times tonight.”

“In terms of motivation, the game was simple for them. Because their head coach rested a number of players, today’s team meant the game was wide open and there were several opportunities. It’s impossible to maintain that level of play all of the time.”

After coming second in our Champions League group, the Blues will face Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Lille, or Ajax in the round of 16.
