The Katsina State Police Command has said its operatives rescued 11 kidnap victims from a hideout at Sabon Garin Safana, on the outskirts of Tsaskiya village, in the Safana Local Government Area of the state.

The bandits reportedly kidnapped the victims on Friday, November 12, 2021, from Tsaskiya village.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, adding that the victims were rescued on Sunday.

He said all the rescued victims were reunited with their families after medical treatment.

Isah also revealed that police operatives in Kankara LGA on Sunday engaged bandits in a shootout at Danmarabu village, during which 38 cows, 11 sheep and a motorcycle were recovered.

He added that the police team intercepted the bandits at Danmarabu, leading to a shootout and subsequent recovery of the animals and the motorcycle.

Isah said investigation had begun into the incidents, while efforts were on to arrest the fleeing bandits.
