Police confirm release of abducted RCCG pastor, two others

The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed the release of a pastor under Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Calabar, Sunday Adeniran.

Gunmen abducted the cleric along with a female teacher on Saturday around the Ikot Eneobong area of the state.

The teacher and another victim were also rescued by the police.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, confirmed their release in a statement.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police, Aminu Alhassan, gave a strict order to men of the Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism Squad and they acted swiftly and secured the release of the victims.

“I want to commend the swift action of SP Awodi and his Dragon Squad. Their efforts yielded results and in no time, the victims are now in safe hands.

“I want to appeal to the public not to wait until something happens before they report. They should always report strange movements to curb this kind of ugly incident.”

It was gathered that the victims were released on Monday near the Scanobo Filling Station, Ikot Ekpo, 8 Miles, Calabar.
