Obi, NLC pledge support for Soludo

A vice presidential candidate in the 2019 general election on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, Mr Peter Obi, has pledged support for the Anambra State governor-elect, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

Obi disclosed this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State, on Wednesday.

He said, “I Congratulate Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on winning the gubernatorial election. I thank Anambrarians who braved all odds and came out to perform their civic duties. I urge them to support the in-coming Governor through prayers and other legitimate means to see that Anambra returns to her former glory as the “Light of the Nation.”
Most importantly, I shall continue to commit the state into God’s hands for His will to be done at all times.”

Similarly, the Anambra State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has congratulated the governor-elect.

A statement by the state chairman, Jerry Nnubia, read in part, “On behalf of Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State Council and the entire Workers of Anambra State, I warmly and heartily congratulate Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Governor-Elect of Anambra State in the just concluded 6th November, 2021 governorship election.

“Indeed the election was keenly contested and the build-up to the election created a scary atmosphere of tension and fear but to the Glory of God, it turned out to be the most peaceful election in recent time.

“It’s therefore my appeal to our Governor-Elect, Prof. Chukwuma to be magnanimous in victory by running an
all-inclusive government, so as to carry all stakeholders including labour along in his administration.

“May I equally urge all the other aspirants who took part in the contest to bury their hatchets and take advantage of the hands of fellowship already extended by the governor-elect during his acceptance speech to support and assist his administration in this onerous task, in the spirit of brotherhood and overall interest of peace, progress and development of our dear state.”
