Cultist Attack Leaves One Killed, Others Desert Community For Safety

A recent cultist attack in a Community in Abia State, have left one dead, while others dessert community in ssearch for safety.

According to an eyewitness account, the cultists who were said to have dressed in a rugged attire stormed the area on the 26 December 2016 in search of a fellow cult member in a different group.

Speaking to journalists, a witness who pleaded to be kept anonymous reported that the the cult members came looking for a cult member in another group who brutalized one of their member severely. In quest to revenge the attack, a lot of things went wrong. In his statement he said

“I was sitting on my balcony when I saw some group of guys chanting and moving towards our area. At first, i thought they were normal area Boys, who once in a while chant around the area to keep us entertained and make the environment lively. The game changed when one of them shouted “clear road” and immediately released a shot into the air. As normal, everyone that was around, took to their heels to the nearest place of emergency for safety. The cultists entered into a nearby house to look for the wanted person whom they did not find. As they were out from the house, they started releasing fire sporadically. Unfortunately, a 26-year-old Innocent Fredrick, a passerby who knows nothing about what was going on was shot dead on the spot”

The source revealed that the deadly incident took place around 5:20Pm in the evening and lasted for about an hour and half. . Further reports included that many others got minor injuries while few identified were seriously injured as they tried to scamp for their safety. Following the situation, some have been rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Umuahia for immediate treatment, the names of the victims were identified as, Innocent Ikenna, Ajah maxxin, Theodore Munachi, Okoh Victoria, Miracle Ebeluwa and Dick Hope.

The situation was arrested and brought to sanity after some police officers were deployed to the area. Speaking with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abia State Command, Karma Hosea Hassan , he said that efforts are on the go to make sure the cultists are arrested and brought to face the wrath of the law. He assured the citizens that they are going to put in their best to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime.

However, the body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary. According to the Police spokesperson, he said that manhunt and thorough investigation has been set up to make sure the criminals do not escape. In his statement he said

“We are at an alert to make sure these cultists who killed a young boy.

“We have deployed our men to the area to guard and checkmate the activities going on there. They will also help to gather more information as much as possible”

The Assistant Inspector General of Police Abia State Command, Karma Hosea Hassan , he said that for the past few months they have been in a serious battle with the cultists around the area. In several cases the police force have been able to neutralize them and get them arrested. He assured that they will keep to the best of their ability to wage war against cultism in and around the city.
